The Llanwarne WI was founded in 1919
and has been active in our village now for 106 years
In 2024 we won the cup for the highest membership increase in 2023 having increased in numbers from a dwindling 6 to 15
We are a group of diverse and lovely ladies who meet for a couple of hours most months on the second Tuesday at 1.30 in the village hall, unless we are going on an outing, which we like to do fairly regularly.
We also host coffee mornings from time to time where we can relax and get to know each other better.
So far this year we have been for our annual new year lunch.
Visited the Flying Potter at Eastnor and had a go on the potters wheel. Amazingly most of us ended up with a pot of some sort to bring home and it was great fun.
We have done silk painting, sea glass jewellery making and calligraphy.
Had a historic trip around Ledbury and enjoyed a sumptuous cream tea.
The steam train trip in September was great.
In November we are going to repeat the great afternoon we had last year ten pin bowling.
And we will be having our Christmas tea and games in December.
Our aim is to spend a couple of hours each month away from our usual routine where we can relax and enjoy something together that we may not have done on our own.
Why don’t you came along and say hello?
If you would like more details then please contact Margaret on 07521 050637
Thanks to the ladies on tea duty in October for the sumptuous cakes.
If you are wondering what to do on a Tuesday afternoon and would like some good company for a couple of hours why not call in and introduce yourself. You are always welcome to come along as a visitor and not feel any pressure to join if you do not want to.
Ionwen was a much loved and respected member at Llanwarne and one of the W I’s longest serving members having joined aged 14 in 1947. We will miss her.
